You can enjoy steam trains including the Ffestiniog Railway that runs from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, dog walks, easy rambles, climbing, fishing, industrial heritage, nature and stunning open views all within walking distance so consider leaving your car at home (transport can be provided from Tanygirisiau’s narrow gauge steam railway station (300m away) and from the Blaenau Ffestiniog main line railway station (1.5 miles). Spend the day at Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Mine & Tramway that is also the site of Bounce Below and Zip World Caverns. Surf Snowdonia is an artificial wave pool at Dolgarrog in the Conwy valley. It is the United Kingdom’s only artificial surfing lake. Some of the bedrooms are suitable for wheelchair users and there is a short gravel path to one room , the path in the mountains can be rough.
