Grove House Redford Hamsterley Bishop Auckland Co. Durham DL13 3NL

10 miles from BISHOP AUCKLAND   11 miles from BARNARD CASTLE

GROVE HOUSE is a large period home with 19th Century architecture and design.  Set in the beautiful 2,000 acre Hamsterley Forest, it is an idyllic location to spend a weekend away. Neatly tended lawns and a variety of shrubs and trees provide a relaxing setting which can be viewed from a patio area.  Hamsterley Forest is full of wooded trails and bridleways to explore. Footpaths, cycle tracks and orienteering courses are plentiful for the more adventurous.  The local countryside of Weardale and Teasdale is just as picturesque as the Yorkshire Dales but without the traffic.  An ideal base for many attractions including the sandy beaches of Durham and Northumberland and its castles, Beamish and the North Yorkshire Moors.  The Lake District is also close for a day trip. For those interested in birds of prey you can experience a walk in the forest with a hawk accompanied with an experienced handler and be shown how to get the bird to fly to you using the glove.  Or you could have an owl experience hour.
