This charming cottage is surrounded by fields with lovely views of Croscombe village and within walking distance of an excellent pub. Accommodation is in an adorable studio for two, pine-clad inside and out. Find a delicious bed with feather pillows and duvet, recycled Spanish rugs on new pine floors, an electric fire that looks like a vintage French stove, armchairs, books and magazines. The kitchen is in the middle of this open-plan space, the sitting room and bedroom (double bed or twin beds to your liking) at the far ends, clothes are stored in the wardrobe of the shower room, and all feels stylish and bright. French windows may be flung open on warm days to a patio area with table, chairs and loungers and an above-ground pool (for summer) on your own lawn. Set off for a pub supper, or whip up a simple supper in the kitchen; it may be tiny but it has microwave, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. For balmy evenings there’s a grass tennis court and a croquet lawn – knock a few balls about! – and you can stroll to the village. Only 2 miles from the glorious city of Wells with its medieval cathedral and Bishop’s Palace where your host is a guide. South of Bath and Bristol, close to Wookey Hole, Royal Bath and West showground, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat and Fleet Air Arm Museum. There are many National Trust houses and other places to visit. Good local pubs and restaurants nearby. WiFi access.
