  • MARTIN ELISABETH

    “Dear Madam,

We wanted to say again how much we spent two wonderful days in your beautiful and comfortable Bed and Breakfast on August 11 and 12, 2018.
Your very warm welcome has touched us a lot and we will keep a dazzling memory of our first stop in England, in your “Old Mill House”, nestled in the heart of a campaign so green!
Our tour went well. We loved Salisbury, its cathedral and the surrounding area, not to mention Stonehenge. Then Clovelly and North Devon delighted us and corresponded in all respects to the description you gave us. Then Tintagel, St Ives, Newquay, Land’s End, St Mickael Mount … were so many nice surprises!
The return by Exeter and South Devon via Portmouth where we were waiting for our ferry seemed more complicated … Maybe it is related to driving on the left which I was not used to and the speed of others vehicles, just like in France elsewhere …
Wishing you good luck in this coming autumn 2018.
    Our best feelings accompany you.”

On March 6th I happened to book two rooms at Old Mill House, South Newton, Salisbury (no. 111 in the book). We had a very warm welcome and the very friendly landlady Mrs Maggie Sayer did everything to make us feel comfortable.

A wonderful place to stay, great atmosphere and a perfect English breakfast. I strongly recommend this place! Thank you very much!

I stayed two nights over a weekend in mid November. The B&B is beautifully situated in rolling countryside a few miled from Salisbury. Being on a main road it is relatively easy to find although if arriving after dark best to ask Maggie in advance for exact location as you have to slow to walking pace to enter the property.
I can highly recommend The Old Mill. It is both a fabulous old building, full of history and delightfully old fashioned inside, and a place where you receive a warm welcome from Maggie, and a comfortable stay. My room had the bonus of looking straight over the mill pond and towards the downs. My room was very comfortable and I had a superb breakfast of muesli, yogurt, fruit. scrambled egg with local smoked trout, excellent toast and coffee!

The Old Mill House is a most welcoming place to stay.  Maggie was so kind, doing everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.  The breakfast was really delicious, with plenty of choice.  The rooms were very comfortable and the double room had a lovely view of the mill pond with the resident heron and kingfisher. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to this B&B.
