Let’s Take to the Hills
The Wrekin, with its stunning views across 15 counties is topped by a hill fort. It was the setting for Middle Earth in Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’. The Long Mynd – or ‘Long Mountain’ – has ancient tracks running its nine miles, and Wenlock Edge has more wonderful walks and breathtaking vistas.
Rising to a height of 1,335 feet above the Shropshire Plain,it’s really a magnificent vantage point and it’s a prominent and well-known landmark.
The hill is popular for walkers and tourists and offers great views of Shropshire. It can be seen well into Staffordshire and the Black Country, and even as far as the Beetham Tower in Manchester, Winter Hill in Lancashire and Cleeve Hill in Gloucestershire.
