Thinking of a short break away? It’s fair to say that for most of us Shropshire isn’t the first destination that springs to mind, but it’s not been called one of England’s ‘best kept secrets’ for nothing, so we thought we’d take a closer look!

Picture unspoilt countryside, the beauty and tranquillity of the Shropshire Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, castles and canals, historic houses and beautiful gardens…

Visit the World Heritage Site, Ironbridge Gorge  with its ten museums – a fascinating glimpse into the history of the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Take a breath-taking walk to the summit of The Wrekin (forged as legend would have it, when a tired giant dropped a shovel of earth on the way to Shrewsbury!), little wonder then it was the setting for Middle Earth in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

For all foodies, a visit to Ludlow is calling… this historic town has a reputation for its gourmet delights and with a great selection of restaurants and cafes you will be spoilt for choice! Other market towns worthy of a visit include Ellesmere, Market Drayton and Bishops Castle, all with their own unique character.

The county town of Shrewsbury, a medieval market town with its red sandstone castle, located on the River Severn, is a shopper’s delight, especially if you are looking for something different.

We have an unusual yet delightful 4 Star graded B&B just 4 miles from Shrewsbury – The Old Station – a former rural Railway Station, built in 1847 has been lovingly renovated to provide beautiful deluxe accommodation. The luxuriously appointed bedrooms, named after GWR Steam Engines, are finished with Victorian style decorated suites. Evening Meals are available by arrangement – Guests may invite friends/family to join them!

The Roost is a beautiful, self-catering, dog-friendly barn conversion on the edge of the Shropshire Hills AONB. It has been furnished to a very high standard and is ideal for a couple to enjoy an unforgettable stay in a scenic location, with views of an adjoining lake and to the hills of Caer Caradoc and The Lawley beyond. A welcome hamper of bread, milk, cereal, butter, tea, coffee, preserves and bottle of wine awaits you with dog treats and a toy for your four legged friend! Ideally located for exploring Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Ironbridge or walking the Shropshire hills and with the convenience of a pub and shop just 1 mile away.
We have a great selection of B&Bs and Self-catering properties for your accommodation needs…

Happy Travelling this Summertime!
