With the easing of restrictions, many of us are using the opportunity to take a trip to the coast this summer. Whether it be re-kindling our memories of seaside holidays as children, introducing a new generation to this great British heritage or just the urge for sand, sea, sun (hopefully!) and plenty of fresh air…a summer trip beckons!

Why not take time once again to stroll along our piers, and wonder at the fine achievements of Victorian engineering, enjoying the experience with nostalgic affection. Our Blog ‘Piers…Support our Coastal Heritage’ has more details of Piers to visit this summer.

If you are interested in a walking experience like no other, look no further than the South West Coast Path. Stretching along 630 miles of spectacular scenery, the South West Coast Path starts at Minehead in Somerset and continues right around the southwest peninsula finishing at Poole Harbour in Dorset.

Originally created by coastguards looking for smugglers, it’s easy to let the imagination wander as you stumble across old stone walls, stiles and coastguard cottages on route! The path showcases a variety of geological formations, ultimately contributing to such diverse and stunning scenery. The stretch of coastline in East Devon and Dorset, known as The Jurassic Coast, is well-known for this and has been designated as a World Heritage Site. Whilst the South West Coast Path attracts many a serious walker, equally it can be good for a more leisurely walk and one thing’s for certain, the views will not disappoint!

Our B&Bs look forward to welcoming guests this summer old and new! You can explore with confidence knowing that many of our B&Bs have been awarded the official ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation. Check out our Coastal B&Bs for mote details.

Here’s to making happier memories this summer!
